Biography

Prof. Xu received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2022, advised by Prof. Jon Lee. He obtained his bachelor degree in Computational Mathematics from Peking University in 2017. Previously, he was a Krener Assistant Professor at the University of California Davis from 2022 to 2025, mentored by Prof. Matthias Köppe and Prof. Jesús De Loera, and a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2025, mentored by Prof. Alberto Del Pia.

Research Interests

(mixed) integer programming, global optimization, and theories connecting continuous optimization and discrete optimization.
