Xiaoyu Wang is a post-doctoral fellow, working with Prof. Zhang Tong since Sept. 2022 in the Department of Mathematics, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She worked with Prof. Mikael Johansson at the Division of Decision and Control Systems, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), from Sept 2020 to Aug 2022. She received a Ph.D. degree in computational mathematics, from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences & Academy of Mathematics and System Science (AMSS), CAS, China, under the supervision of Prof. Ya-xiang Yuan, in 2020; and a B.S. degree in mathematics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, from Wuhan University, China, in 2015.
She is particularly interested in optimization algorithms and their application in large-scale machine learning. The topics she has been working on include:
-
Stochastic Optimization Algorithms (First-order, Newton, Quasi-Newton, or Trust-Region)
-
Learning Rate Policies in Stochastic Optimization
-
Applications of Optimization Methods in Machine Learning
-
Bilevel Optimization
-
